Lifespace is Awesome.

Until this video, I was dubious that PicoP is included in the short-throw projectors that SONY demonstrated with their LifeSpace line. The faint scan lines seen here, I think give us away. 



As a review,  I'm nearly certain that PicoP is involved in the product shown below. This is an awesome use of the technology, and I think that with this, moms will stop fighting phones out at mealtime. (Moms not fighting phones at mealtime could mean billions of sales!)

LAS VEGAS — The Internet of Things is a pretty terrible term, partly because of its vagueness. Exactly what are all these "things" and what are they doing on the Internet?

Sony has a pretty good answer in its Life Space UX concept, which got an upgrade at CES 2015 and incorporates lights, speakers, projectors and more to create a highly interactive and beautifully designed take on the smart home. The highlight is easily the Symphonic Light, which combines lighting and sound into one of the most innovative connected gadgets we've seen.

At first glance, it looks like any light you'd find in a hipster Williamsburg loft, with an LED bulb surrounded by clear glass. But the glass is actually a speaker that can emanate high-frequency sound in all directions (presumably complemented with a woofer in the base).

BERLIN -- Imagine a 23-inch TV you could take in the bath, stick to your refrigerator door, or plonk on your kitchen workspace. That's the promise of the Sony Portable Short Throw Projector, which lights up any room and turns any wall or surface into a TV and a touchscreen.

A short-throw projector beams an image a short distance, unlike a conventional projector like the ones at the movies or the type you use to show off your holiday snaps. For example, a short-throw device might sit at the base of a wall and project onto the space above it, correcting the image to sort out any distortion so the image looks right to people standing in front of it. Because it isn't projecting across the room, you won't have to worry about people throwing popcorn at you because your shadow won't be cast on the wall if you walk in front of the picture.

The new portable version expands on this idea while shrinking it. It's a cube about the size of a box of tissues so it can go anywhere -- and wherever it goes it has different clever purposes.

First of all, the 23-inch image can show a TV program or movie on any surface. It's waterproof, so you can perch it on the side of the bath and watch by candlelight. Take it into the kitchen and you can project a recipe onto the countertop, putting an end to the problem of turning recipe book pages with sauce-soaked fingers. In any room, it can project a magazine or website to peruse at your leisure.

Stick the Short Throw Projector on the fridge and it beams photos, notes, drawings, and reminders onto the surface as a kind of virtual, interactive projector. It's connected wirelessly, so not only can you throw pictures to the wall from your phone, but people in different places can see the same thing. For example, you could share a family noticeboard with your folks, and as photos are automatically backed up from phones to projector, both homes can see the latest family snaps.

An iPhone Screen as big as a TV set?

For the record and the "manyth" time... I do NOT think there will be an embedded picop in an iPhone this year. Some kind of accessory is very possible however. -- and we see one with the Sony Portable Ultra Short throw Projector

Presumably, Apple Inc., (NASDAQ: AAPL) will release its new iPhone 6 at an event the company has scheduled for September 9. The event has been preceded by wild speculation about the new phone’s primary features. In reality, these are guesses — mostly. The iPhone 6 could have a screen as big as a typical home video screen, or as small as the eraser on a pencil.


The list of possible iPhone 6 features is very long. It may have a 5.5 inch screen. Or the screen may be 4.7 inches, or Apple may release two versions. Both may look like smaller screen versions of the iPad, and they may have some of the larger product’s features and functions as well. The iPhone 6 may have round corners or square ones. Perhaps it will have a flexible screen. It may be waterproof like the Samsung Galaxy S5. As a matter of fact, to match the Samsung product, or best it, a waterproof phone is essential.

The iPhone 6 almost certainly will have a more powerful processor than its predecessor. This has been true of every generation of the phone. Of course, it will need a better camera. That has been critical to the iPhone’s evolution as well.

As for the software package for the iPhone 6, it will certainly run on the new Apple iOS 8.

Sony's Life Space UX -- UPDATED

It is apparently unlikely that this particular device is Microvision inside, however other portions of the LifeSpace suite of products likely do include PicoP.

When placed on a refrigerator door -- makes me think it has a magnetic base? I really want to see demos of this, I think it's going to be really cool.

10. New spatial experience, Sony's "Life Space UX": introducing entirely new experiences in the home

Sony announced Life Space UX, a new concept which utilizes space itself to generate experiences, at International CES in January, 2014 where it introduced its 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector^*, which is scheduled to go on sale in the U.S. at the end of September, as well as a tabletop screen, ceiling screen and wall mount display concept models.

At IFA 2014, Sony is showcasing its lineup of products that comprise Life Space UX, including concept models and development prototypes that incorporate new technologies, for the first time in Europe. These concept models include LED bulb speaker, a conventional sized light bulb which contains speakers and connects wirelessly with smartphones to transform the entire home into a musical space. Sony will also be exhibiting a compact, cube-shaped and waterproof portable ultra short throw projector which, when placed on a refrigerator door or even in a bathroom, can project an approximately 23 inch image capable of being manipulated by touch.

Furthermore, the 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector that is the first in Sony's range of Life Space UX products, is scheduled to be launched in Europe by summer of 2015.
