Nintendo NX -- Nintendo Switch

There was a recent release of the Nintendo NX - Now Nintendo Switch -- that was disappointing, but it's not off the radar yet. 

Of course, what's really interesting here is that the MVIS sensing tech uses IR lasers, and has done (with Microsoft, interactive projection onto hands, etc.) and we know that it can also be a wall projector.

Whether or not this feature is in the NX, Microvision or not, this is what Microvision has up its sleeves -- this and more... also the best near-eye display.

I wouldn't mind a higher stock price now, but I'm content to wait. People really want what the company has to offer.

Furthermore, recently filed patents hint that the new Nintendo Switch will contain more features than what is shown in its first trailer. According to one patent, the upcoming Nintendo console could possess GPS, motion tracking, image recognition, and a built-in projector.

The patent revealed that the projector technology will include an infrared camera with "a lens, and a sensor capable of sensing light (infrared rays; specifically, near infrared rays)." However, this doesn't mean that the Nintendo NX will provide its users with a wall-sized projector display, but with a smaller display that would allow images in the game to be projected onto the user's hand.

Nintendo has already said that the features seen in the reveal trailer - not only portability but detachable controllers, built in two-player, and local sync for multiplayer - aren't the only tricks it has up its sleeve, and it plans to reveal more before the console's launch next March. According to patents spotted by Polygon, that could include GPS, motion tracking, image recognition and even a built-in projector.

This announcement could come any time. I don't KNOW anything about it, but this seems like a place PicoP could pop up. (These hints aside, Nintendo has some very interesting projector use-case items.)

Hybrid confirmed but not the only “surprise”

It has been confirmed again that there are detachable controllers

There is no dock where the handheld is plugged in, but a wireless ‘dongle’ that upscales when playing on a TV screen

When playing on the handheld, the game is the same as when docked

Games look good on the handheld screen (780 – 900p), about PlayStation 4 level

Ports should be easy despite the different architecture

Very positive feedback on the dev tools

Smartphone connectivity may be possible

Virtual Reality support is not out of the question but early tests aren’t satisfying enough for Nintendo

Nintendo NX -- more interesting language.

Those of you who follow this know that I've been watching Nintendo NX  for a long time. Much of the time the links about it end up on the digging page.

There's a lot of the language surrounding this upcoming device that makes me think it could possibly contain a projector - things particularly about it being a hybrid device and a "totally new way to play games." That it sticks to 720P resolution is very interesting as well.

So now this: The performance module for it is a portable device with its own power supply.

If you've been paying close enough attention -- you know that the MPCL1 -- Sony's stand-alone projector -- is actually a product of the former battery division of Sony. (Sony spun-off the battery division, but retained the projectors.) -- Look Here 

I'm not depending on Nintendo having us, but in the short term it is something I am watching closely. I think the odds are pretty decent.

According to a recent report, the Nintendo NX will be a handheld hybrid which will include three components.

A Foxconn employee - the company reportedly manufacturing the device - released a sketch of the device.

The first component is a “dock” that includes a cartridge slot, HDD and a TV output. The second component is a “performance module” that is a portable device that has its own power supply.

The third and final component is the handheld device itself, which comprises a 6 inch 720p screen and has a low-TDP SoC.
