Curiouser and curiouser.
The Wall Street Journal claims to have received insider information from "a person familiar with the matter" that the new Nintendo console will "be compatible with its own smartphone games". Exactly what smartphone games and how said integration would function isn't clarified.
They stated that the NX will be a handheld-first console which connects to televisions as a secondary function, and that hardware will use cartridges instead of discs. We wouldn't be surprised if the next revelations suggested the year was 1989 and the product in question was called the 'Definitely-not-Game-Boy'.
Everybody is now aware that the Nintendo NX is going to be a handheld hybrid console. Just like the Wii U, but with more focus on the portability rather than being a console that has a tablet for a controller and needs to glue players near a T.V set.
Portability aside, the Nintendo NX's more interesting feature is the inclusion NVIDIA Shield's capability. Fans now speculate that it may be possible to actually get Nintendo back in the "game" with NVIDIA's Tegra X1. Even with the age, X1 can deliver quality gaming to Nintendo.
