Projector Rumor Microsoft Surface Phone

It's a rumor, not sure of the source, but there it is.

I don't know how reliable this news is, but given past language from Microsoft about Continuum, I give it a "6"

Some Chinese leaks appear to provide some details of Microsoft’s Windows phone successor which could possibly be called the Surface Mobile. The details were first found by Twitter user, h0x0d, who has often been a reliable Microsoft news tipster in the past.
In addition to the new name (previous leaks had suggested the ‘Surface Phone‘ brand), translations of the leaks reveal that the Surface Mobile will support the Surface Pen (like in the mock-up image above), will be powered by a Snapdragon processor, and will have a kickstand (like the Surface Pro and Surface PCs) that opens as far as 185 degrees.

Of particular note is a brand new feature for a Microsoft device called “Onto Table” which appears to be a built-in projector that can display a full desktop via Continuum. The Surface Mobile’s battery is stated as being able to last for up to an hour in this mode. (This could potentially be a wireless projection to another monitor but many are interpreting it as having literal projection capability).

Two new codenames are also dropped: ‘Surface Peking’ and ‘Surface Slavonia’. It’s unclear what these could be but they are mentioned alongside the word “terminal” which suggests they could be some sort of hardware similar to the Microsoft Display Dock used for Continuum functionality. ‘Surface Peking’ can be interpreted as ‘Surface Beijing’ as the names are interchangeable.

The codename ‘Project Andromeda’ is also mentioned however it’s rather ambiguous and could refer to the range of Surface Mobile devices or even the new operating system which is expected to be an evolution of Windows 10 Mobile.

All of this is pure rumor until we hear an official announcement from Microsoft but it definitely is exciting and does make one wonder if this is the exciting new mobile device Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella had spoken about.

Microsoft Surface Phone - Trial Production begins.

Sometimes, timing is everything, I don't know if the timing of this particular event is coincidental or meaningful.

Prior to now, the Surface Phone was rumor ware. There were rumors about it. This confirms that it will exist.

I consider this proof that there will be a surface phone. 

WE don't know what features it will have, but the timing and the language around it are interesting and worth paying attention to. Part of that language includes "Microsoft Continuum." 

I don't think Microsoft uses language by accident, so the TV or monitor is still part of the game, but "projector" is also meaningful.

Although Windows Phone devices were definitely not a priority for Microsoft in 2016, the tech giant's CEO Satya Nadella recently raised lots of eyebrows by claiming that it's Microsoft's intention to eventually bring forth "the ultimate mobile device". Supposedly, this will be the ever-elusive Surface Phone, which has been a favorite rumor subject for the Microsoft-loving crowd.

According to reports out of Taiwan, Microsoft’s rumored Surface Phone is said to be running trial productions of the upcoming handset. The company behind the production is said to be Pegatron whom some of you guys might know as one of Apple’s main producers of the iPhone alongside Foxconn.

Microsoft Continuum has popped up before as a possibility. It's a means to extend a smart phone. 

They will be announcing soon.


The new Windows smartphone will be released by Microsoft on October 26 in an event held in New York City.

Mobile Continuum

The Windows Surface Phone will also be coming with the Mobile Continuum feature. According to the Windows Website, "Continuum turns your phone into a big-screen projector and a big-time productivity tool. Use a dock or adapter to connect to a TV or monitor, then use your apps and see your content on a larger screen."

Contents on your Windows smart phone can also be viewed on a Windows 10 PC via Continuum without the need of a dock or an adapter. Basically, with the help of additional hardware, your phone will become like a PC with the help of Continuum.
