So a friend and I were having coffee the other day.

We discuss Microvision often.

At this point, everything is looking really good. We knew what was coming, and now it looks that at least one mass market product is imminent -- because there are several close at hand:

• Near-eye display (Hololens? Oclulus? Magic Leap? Glass) MSFT, FB, GOOG
• Interactive display? Smart speakers, smart displays? (AMZN, AAPL, GOOG)
• Home security?
• Auto LiDAR?
• Display only (Contract signed, best guess as to who is Sharp/Foxconn)

Rumors have also been circulating about a "surface phone" -- I sent a note to a tech reporter with a link to a surface phone post I'd done  more than a year ago.  When I did that an hour later, this document was gone.  It's back, but I suspect they hit some traffic limits. The background is interesting.

The amount of upward motion that could occur with this stock if these stories are confirmed or the suspicions widely circulated will be amazing. If one of them is confirmed, we're off to the races.

It's possible we start rising, and the tired investors will panic when there's a hiccup.

and that... reminded me of Ronald Wayne.

At the time, he seemed like a smart investor. He doubled his money in a short time, and he cashed out. Poor move.

A lot of Microvision's investors now are tired.

We have held the stock a long time... many of us have lost a lot of money and would like to get it back.

So, if we get it back and then some -- that's awesome, right? 

Not so fast.

Most of the rest of the people who find this company are going to find it after it gets mentioned in the same breath as some big names. Not before. Shortly after that it will start to rise... or it will before that.

some of the tired investors will be tempted to take the money and run... but if you're more patient, I think you'll do a lot better than Ronald Wayne.

I appreciate the enthusiasm and being alerted to things, but this doesn't change my outlook at all. (because of course we're eventually going to be in there.) I've appreciated all the tips from a lot of people over a period of years.

Microvision produces the best near eye displays out there, so of course they're going to use it -- and so are Apple, Facebook and Google... and Meta and Vuzix, and ODG and Magic Leap....

This is is another bit of evidence being added to an already large amount of evidence that supports the idea that Microvision will be included in Hololens and other AR/MR devices.

(There are already many patents from Microsoft that cite Microvision's PicoP display... and many from other places)

Microvision's near eye displays are going to dominate, because they're the best.

At CES I made an effort to try every near eye display out there. Some are pretty good -- but I've also tried Microvision's (Microvision's OLD display --- and it blows away everything else out there. They aren't even close.)

I've tried Hololens in its current form. I've tried Meta, Vuzix, Epson, ODG, at least two forms of Oculus, and the Skully Helmet.  (The only one I wanted to try that I haven't been able to is Magic Leap)

As far as the display is concerned what they're showing SUCKS next to MicroVision's near eye display. 

Laser is the solution. Ghosting is a serious problem and Microvision solves that.

Those companies that are building Augmented Reality and Mixed reality. -- They're working on interface, content, etc. Microvision is going to be the display everywhere because it's the best. It's that simple.

Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft.... Vuzix, Skully, ODG, Meta.. they're all going to use Microvision's displays. 

They're ALL working on products that need near eye displays. 

The technology and software they have developed is amazing. None of these devices is just a display, they're all surrounding technology. They need a better display though. 

The breadcrumbs clearly lead in this direction. The evidence has been building for a long time.

We can thank our previous CEO for having the vision and the determination to cook all this up and make it happen.

AR CAN'T FAIL. There's all this hesitation about whether or not people will actually adopt it. Just three days ago I posted about why it CAN'T fail. 

It makes people WAY more productive. 
The games will be stunning.

That's all we need.

BTW Sharp/Foxconn (my best guess and I'm fairly confident in it) is going to make tons of phones and other devices with projection. (TV that fits in your pocket?) The first generation that they have the exclusive contract for, is going to make entertainment and education available to billions of people.

Alex Kipman, the inventor of Microsoft’s HoloLens, in an interview explained that the traditional concept of the smartphone has no future. In an interview with Bloomberg, he explained that “the phone is already dead.” But “people just haven’t realized,” he added. Microsoft’s focus seems to be entirely on building a phone that’s not a phone, that’s something similar to what they have done with the Surface lineup. The man behind Surface lineup, Panos Panay is apparently in charge of bringing the Andromeda to the market.

Ryan Gavin, Microsoft general manager for Surface, explained in a recent interview with Business Insider, that the company’s next phone “will not resemble what we know and think of as a phone today.” Back in 2016, Nadella also hinted at the possibilities of a ultimate mobile device from Microsoft. “We don’t want to be driven by just envy of what others have,” he said. “The question is, what can we bring? That’s where I look at any device form factor or any technology, even AI. We will continue to be in the phone market not as defined by today’s market leaders, but by what it is that we can uniquely do in what is the most ultimate mobile device,” Nadella explained.

I don't know how reliable this news is, but given past language from Microsoft about Continuum, I give it a "6"

Some Chinese leaks appear to provide some details of Microsoft’s Windows phone successor which could possibly be called the Surface Mobile. The details were first found by Twitter user, h0x0d, who has often been a reliable Microsoft news tipster in the past.
In addition to the new name (previous leaks had suggested the ‘Surface Phone‘ brand), translations of the leaks reveal that the Surface Mobile will support the Surface Pen (like in the mock-up image above), will be powered by a Snapdragon processor, and will have a kickstand (like the Surface Pro and Surface PCs) that opens as far as 185 degrees.

Of particular note is a brand new feature for a Microsoft device called “Onto Table” which appears to be a built-in projector that can display a full desktop via Continuum. The Surface Mobile’s battery is stated as being able to last for up to an hour in this mode. (This could potentially be a wireless projection to another monitor but many are interpreting it as having literal projection capability).

Two new codenames are also dropped: ‘Surface Peking’ and ‘Surface Slavonia’. It’s unclear what these could be but they are mentioned alongside the word “terminal” which suggests they could be some sort of hardware similar to the Microsoft Display Dock used for Continuum functionality. ‘Surface Peking’ can be interpreted as ‘Surface Beijing’ as the names are interchangeable.

The codename ‘Project Andromeda’ is also mentioned however it’s rather ambiguous and could refer to the range of Surface Mobile devices or even the new operating system which is expected to be an evolution of Windows 10 Mobile.

All of this is pure rumor until we hear an official announcement from Microsoft but it definitely is exciting and does make one wonder if this is the exciting new mobile device Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella had spoken about.

Surface Phone -- Maybe this is related.

I always knew something was bugging me about the Surface Phone -- some dot that needed to be connected that wasn't connected. I found it.

Microsoft has talked about the "Surface" line of products, and then about the "surface phone." They're confident about the surface phone that it's going to be a game-changer.

I know this article doesn't mention Microsoft.

This may be why.

Recently, a post here about the Surface phone going into trial production. From November 29, 2016.

The Surface phone is also mentioned along with something called Microsoft Continuum -- which turns your phone into a "big screen projector."

My best guess is that this is a very real upcoming device. The odds of Microvision inclusion in this product are very high

There has also been mention of Microsoft Continuum -- as a phone feature, that "turns your phone into a big screen projector." [ Continuum here ] I don't think their use of language is accidental.

What happens remains to be seen, but Microsoft has worked with Microvision in the past, and Microvision is working with Microsoft devices. Microsoft is talking about a technology that turns a phone into a "big screen projector." Microsoft is going to release a powerful phone that will be like their surface tablet....

The Microsoft Surface Phone is also perceived to be the miniature version of Surface tablets. If that's the case, experts consider the Surface Phone as the ultimate mobile device. It may even overtake Surface tablets for being able to make actual phone calls. It is a primarily a mobile device after all, but only on steroids.

As added by Trusted Reviews, the Microsoft Surface Phone may also run on Windows 10 since it is the last version of Windows according to Microsoft. This means Windows 10 Mobile will not be disappearing anytime soon. It is also reported that Continuum, the cross-platform productivity feature will play a bigger role on mobile.
