LG --- isn't that interesting?

Just had an interesting conversation with Joe Spaz. He asked if I noticed something. As usual he noticed a little more than I did.

Thanks Joe!!

Go to the Microvision site.

Find the investors' presentations here: MicroVision Presentations  (The LD Micro Conference PDF, download it.)

Look on page 15: You'll see this picture:

You'll notice that the smartphone is LG. The Robot is LG, the AR/VR is LG, as is the smartwatch.

LG 360 VR

LG announced a VR headset which is a departure from the usual bulky ones available today. Weighing only 118 grams, the headset works with the LG G5 over a wired connection. The prototype was working though the resolution was low and it allowed a lot of ambient light in which ruined the experience. These issues might be sorted in the final version. No price or availability was announced but it should be out later this year.

Today LG pre-announced significant additions to their high-end wearable, the LG Watch Urbane, via a new edition called the LG Watch Urbane LTE. Both devices will officially launch at Mobile World Congress next week. From a feature standpoint, the LG Watch Urbane LTE adds more wireless functionality via the inclusion of LTE, VoLTE (not 3G voice), GPS, and NFC.

These additions dramatically expand LG's ability to cover the movement use case of wearables and places the Watch Urbane LTE alongside the Samsung Gear S as the only devices to include cellular functionality. This provides a safety net when making a fitness excursion, as emergency calls are now possible. LG had this use case in mind specifically as they included a single key press to initiate an emergency call. Additionally, the inclusion of NFC enables mobile payments, although LG has not yet provided details on how this works. Finally, LG has dramatically increased the battery size from 410mAH to 700mAH, which will help immensely with powering the LTE radio. I should note this is the largest battery I have seen to date in a wearable.

Wearables Conference Tokyo

Proof that Sharp is selling their PicoP module AND trying it out in more products than RoBoHon

From the Japan Times

Sharp Corp. showed off a miniature laser projector that can be carried around in a pocket.
The firm said a security guard could carry it in their shirt pocket and project live camera surveillance imagery on the palm of their hand. Sharp said because the projected image was automatically focused without requiring the user to make adjustments, it could be projected on to pretty much anything.

MicroVision WAY ahead of the competition

So, check this out. A load of companies say they're going to try to do something that's on the cutting edge -- equip their employees with smart glasses.

Why companies are RUSHING to fit their employees with smart glasses.

"In a recent survey conducted by Herndon, Va.-based APX Labs—who collected responses from 201 U.S.-based companies in various industries—60 percent of participants who don't currently use smart glasses were open to adopting it in the near future while 51 percent said they have plans for using smart glasses in the upcoming year."

"The smart glasses data represented a faster projected growth rate than any other “smart” wearable tech device mentioned in the report, including growth rates related to smart watches, activity/fitness trackers, indoor location sensors/beacons and wearable mobile cameras."

"In terms of industries where smart glasses will become prevalent, APX Labs CEO/founder Brian Ballard said that he believes manufacturing, field service, maintenance and repair, material handling and logistics, and inspection/quality control will be key. “These are important jobs, with lots of people and where improving performance in terms of process speed, employee productivity, production quality and compliance/safety has giant impacts on the bottom line,” he added."

Now, you may be thinking "What does this have to do with MicroVision?" Check this out. Not only is MicroVision a leader in IP in this space, but they've ALREADY DONE IT.

Their display is improved, and the software is improved, and they've already been
there. Listen to these guys laugh at what's 10 years ahead of its time. Listen to the guy in the blue shirt.

The technology (the supporting software, tracking, and even the display, has caught up with sentiment.)

Now that MicroVision has PicoP well in hand and ready to generate cash for the company through its partners (SONY & others), they can begin re-engaging with this market that is clearly now ready for what they have to offer.
